Re-polishing the top of the scanner window

Have you found a way of re-polishing the top of the scanner window ? It is completely clean but quite opaque now at has just stopped reading the code completely.

Hi Alan,
I have never personally seen a Tassimo machine where the barcode reader was so cloudy that it was unable to read the barcodes. However, I have heard of a few things which have worked for other people in this situation:
One was to use a nail polishing file. Use the rough side first to rub the surface of the lens quite hard. Then use the smoother side to polish.
Another was to use toothpaste which is mildly abrasive to clean the surface of the lens.
As I've said, I've never used either of these techniques myself but I guess if your Tassimo has stopped reading the barcodes altogether, nothing lost in trying.
Let me know how you get on,
Stuart

Hi Stuart
Simple, success!
With the scanner still installed in the Tassimo, I first used a steel wire scouring ball to carefully remove the worst of the 'brittle' surface plastic, then followed by a quick polish with Brasso type wadding.
Knowing how to turn on the laser was a great help, as it was easy to see how the job was going - took about 2 minutes in total.
