Moisture on underside of barcode reader
Posted by private, Fri 7 Oct 2011 10:03 am
Hi, I wonder if you can help me. I have a Tassimo machine that is a few years old but it appears to have moisture on the underside of the barcode reader and therefore doesn’t read the code. Can you offer any help/advice?

Hi Creisha,
You say there appears to be moisture on the underside of the barcode reader. The bar code reader on the Tassimo machine faces upwards in order to read the barcodes on T-discs which face downwards when placed in the machine. Do you mean there is moisture on the top of the reader or is their moisture on the underside of the little rectangular glass window?
If it's just moisture on the top of the barcode reader, I'm sure they are designed to cope with that. If the barcode reader is dirty however, this can cause problems. In this case I'd try wiping the sensor gently with either a damp cloth or piece of kitchen towel.
Let me know how you get on,
Stuart

The moisture is on the underside of the plastic which is not accessible

Hi Creisha,
I have not heard of moisture affecting the barcode reader as you describe. It sounds like the seal around the sensor has failed allowing moisture to get in. I think you’ll need a new machine. Sorry
