Bought 2005 Volkswagen Golf Comfortline V Auto. It has phone button on the steering but not sure if it has Bluetooth installed, how do I found out.

Also remote FOB unlock & lock not working for driver door only so have open manually through ket ,rest of the doors locks /unlocks working fine, what could be the issue. Thanks

Hello,

Thank you for your email.

The standard radio which came with my UK-spec Mk V didn't have any phone interface or a multi-function steering wheel and so I cannot speak from any personal experience. However, I found this online: https://www.vwwatercooled.com.au/forums/f78/how-find-out-if-vw-has-bluetooth-72545.html Do you have the "Phone" options in the MFD Settings? Does pressing the Phone button on the steering wheel mute the radio?

As for the driver's door not locking/unlocking with the fob, this sounds like the lock actuator needs replacing. Common problem and relatively easy to fix. See https://www.stuartdalby.co.uk/vwgolfmk5/drivers_door_lock_replacement

Hope this helps. Please let me know how you get on,
Stuart

Hi Stuart,

Thanks for your reply.

The second one is quite helpful but am bit hesitant to try it myself, on parts it's varying from AUD$ 120 -300.

Also can you help me on boot handle (VW Badge) for 2005 VW Golf, mine is scratchy on the side so just thinking on replacing it.

Thanks heaps.

Hi Naveed,

Door actuators frequently fail. You can use non-OEM replacement parts. They are much cheaper. When the actuator failed in my rear driver’s side door (https://www.stuartdalby.co.uk/vwgolfmk5/rear_drivers_door_lock_replacement) I used a non-OEM replacement part and it was fine.

As for the boot handle, my Mk V had the dreaded “White worm” problem (See https://www.stuartdalby.co.uk/vwgolfmk5/100000miles.php). I didn’t bother replacing it but if you search Google for “vw golf mk5 rear badge replacement” you should find many posts from people who have.

Hope that helps,
Stuart

Hi Stuart,

I thought to give you an update.

My Car doesn't have Bluetooth installed and only steering has phone button.

I got door lock fixed through some garage mechanic help replacing with original used lock actuator, save more 50% of dealer quotes - Many thanks for your valued help & advice.

On boot handle Badge white corrosion issue I wouldn't worry as it seems very common issue & cosmetic.

On other note my car steering tilt bit on the left and doesn't stay align while driving, any idea what could be the issue?

Many Thanks

Rgds

Hi Naveed,

Thanks for the update.

Hard to comment on the cause of the steering tilt without seeing the car. I would check the front wheels/tyres and suspension.

Hope that helps,
Stuart
