Cloudy barcode reader

Hi Stuart
Great Page! I have gained more insight from this one page than I ever have from many years of owning a Tassimo.
My Bosch barcode reader's window is cloudy and has been for a long long time. The same happened to the first Bosch machine I bought and John Lewis replaced it for me.
Phone calls to Tassimo don't help.
I have managed to clean it in the past using toothpaste and an electric toothbrush.
As a quick fix I simply wipe over the window with a little cooking oil, it works instantly.
My guess is that the problem is caused by coffee oils.
Thanks again for your page.
Emma

Update....
Our barcode reader got so bad that we could actually feel the roughness of the plastic window. It is definitely a sort of peeling, probably due to the heat. Why didn't they use glass!?
Anyway, we just used a tiny amount of Greygate plastic polish (white bottle, red label) and about 15 mins of elbow grease and the window now looks like new!

Hi Emma,
Glad to hear that you got it sorted. I'd not heard of Greygate (http://www.greygate.com) before but if it works....
Thanks for the update,
Stuart
